Program Overview

The Pastors College accomplishes our mission through a rigorous academic program, training in practical ministry, and the development of Christ-like character. Class size typically ranges from 15 to 25 students. Classes run four days a week (Tuesday through Friday) for approximately 38 weeks (late August through early June). One subject is covered per week. New Testament Greek and a preaching lab are taught each Friday afternoon throughout the school year. Students also receive reading and homework assignments and an exam that generally requires another 27 hours of study per week.

Academics

Classroom instruction lays strong biblical and theological foundations for doctrinally driven pastoral ministry. We want Pastors College graduates to base all ministerial practice on convictions regarding the primacy and authority of Scripture.

Practical Ministry

Over the course of the school year, each student attends various ministries of Covenant Life Church. Through practical engagement in a range of ministry settings and interaction with pastors from several different ministry spheres, students gain an appreciation for the overall ministry of the local church.

Christ-like Character

Given the primary place of character in a man's qualification for and effectiveness in ministry, the Pastors College strongly emphasizes the development of humility and godly character. In weekly accountability groups and small-group meetings the students receive pastoral care and additional training, and apply what they learn in class. The majority of our students are married, and wives of the students also attend small-group meetings and monthly training sessions which equip them to serve alongside their husbands.
