Sovereign Grace Music continues to make progress in the studio on their forthcoming Spanish album, Eres Dios. Thank you for praying for Bob Kauflin, Steve Cook, the musicians, and vocalists contributing to this project. We are most grateful.
One of the primary vocalists on our Spanish albums is Mauricio Velarde. Today, he brings us a report on how these albums are being used in local churches:
In 2010, Sovereign Grace Music released Allí en la Cruz, our first worship album written by Spanish speaking members of Sovereign Grace churches. It was composed of ten songs celebrating God’s great love in sending Jesus Christ to be our crucified and risen Savior. I had the joy and privilege of contributing to this album by writing, singing, playing, and producing. And when the album was released, a few churches invited me to come teach these songs and lead them in congregational worship. I had an unforgettable time with the people of Iglesia Bautista de Glenview in Ponce, Puerto Rico. There I was given the opportunity to distribute many copies of Allí en la Cruz. It brought me so much joy to see these songs distributed and used in the local church. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to return and lead them in congregational worship twice more. With each returning visit, I’m encouraged by the reports of how these songs are being used at Iglesia Bautista de Glenview and other churches on the island.
We’re currently in the studio recording another Spanish album, Eres Dios, which contains 15 songs, eight originals and seven Sovereign Grace songs translated in Spanish, including “Jesus Thank You,” “Name Above All Names,” “All I Have Is Christ,” “The Father’s Love,” “Behold Our God,” “Let Your Kingdome Come,” and “The Glories of Calvary.” At the invitation of Iglesia Bautista de Glenview, I will return in December to lead a worship night with the songs from Eres Dios.
I am so thankful to God for Sovereign Grace Music and Bob Kauflin for having a passion to serve the Spanish speaking nations with doctrinally rich songs. In the midst of a culture where worship songs tend to be man-centered and experience-based, Sovereign Grace Music is having a great impact in proclaiming the gospel to the Spanish speaking world.
In the video below, Bob Kauflin shares how the first native-Spanish worship album from Sovereign Grace Music, Allí en la Cruz, came about.
