Would you ever dare throw anything at the LORD? You should. Scripture itself commands us to throw things at Jesus,
"Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22
Do you see what this means?
1. Throw your burdens at the LORD
You are not built to carry burdens. The LORD invites you to throw your burden at him. It is not biblical to hoist the burden of fear, anxiety, guilt, shame etc upon your shoulders day after day. Throw your burden at Jesus. He can take it.
2. You are not as strong as you think you are
Biblical strength is seen in those who run quickest to Jesus with the burdens of their lives. Have you ever heard someone say, “I have to be strong”? The image conjured up is some kind of go it alone western hero who doesn’t need any help and is figures things out on his own. That person is not strong, but a fool. The strongest Christians are the ones that run the quickest and stay the closest to Jesus. Throw your burden at Jesus. He can take it.
3. Throw things early and often
Burdens have a way of sneaking back up into our minds and infecting our feeble hearts. Keep throwing that burden at Jesus over and over and over and over. Throw them at him in the morning, noon and night. Difficult burdens–burdens worth praying about–are not often put off by light and shallow prayers. Throw your burden at Jesus. He can take it.
Christians are not built to carry burdens, instead we have been rebuilt to throw them at Jesus. What is your burden? Throw it at Jesus.
